First Aid Kits

The beginning of the first aid kits came in the middle of the eighteenth century, and in the nineteenth century were already an important part of the growing pharmaceutical industry. Development of railways and the growing popularity of traveling caused that more and more often were needed medications just in case, even while staying away from home.
Home and travel first aid kits were a continuation of the tradition of courtly first aid kits. In those days, when there were not enough doctors, were big distances and poor communication, having first aid kits in manors, estates, and in the palaces of kings it was downright existential matter. A typical XVIII-century medical kit had a rectangular shape with a chest size of 15 x 20 cm. Further canons of the interior and the shape of the first-aid kits were usually marked the fashion.
Since then, it took more than 300 years. Today's medicine chest were repeatedly modified so as to minimize both overall dimensions and weight.
